Follmann develops „green blowing agent“ for hot-embossed wallpapers
Azodicarbonamide – a powdered agent used, for example, for foaming polymer compositions in the manufacture of wallpapers – is on REACH’s candidate list of substances of concern and could therefore be classified as dangerous.
The wallpaper sector is searching for an alternative. Follmann’s experts in the research department are also working flat out on this. The company has now been able to prove through extensive testing that there is a green solution for application in hot-embossed wallpaper.
Follmann will be providing further insights into the subject of „green blowing agents“ at Heimtextil, the trade fair for home and contract textiles, in Frankfurt am Main between 8 and 11 January 2014. Visitors can also look forward to seeing the new design possibilities for wallpapers, presented in the form of a new edition of the wallpaper calendar.
New Sales Manager for Wallpaper Coatings – Mark Stefan Schmitt
Innovative chemicals and development are part of everyday life at Follmann. With its motivated employees, the company continues to place the focus on quality, and is steadily building and expanding its co-operative partnerships with its customers on this basis.
Since 1 October 2013, Follmann has had a new Sales Manager for the Wallpaper Coatings business area, Mark Stefan Schmitt, who is also working towards this goal and in line with this philosophy. His international experience and extensive know-how make him a competent contact partner for products for wallpaper coating, such as printing inks, acrylic foams, plastisols, scatter granules and pigment pastes.
After successfully completing his industrial administration apprenticeship with Hoechst AG, Mr Schmitt expanded the range and depth of his experience in sales. Mr Schmitt held various sales and marketing positions within the Trevira GmbH group; including as the Area Sales Manager for the „Automotive Filaments“ product area for three years in Denmark. For the past seven years, Mr Schmitt was Sales Manager with global responsibility for a premium product group in interior decoration.
