UAE forms new international contacts at Hannover Messe

A high-profile United Arab Emirates delegation, exhibiting with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) at the Hannover Messe, witnessed the latest in state-of-the-art technology and products today, 9 April 2014. The VIP delegation, led by H.E Hammad Al Mass, Executive Director of the International Economic Relations Sector at ADDED, met with international industry leaders from different segments of the technology and energy industry to discuss new trends.

The delegation visited the Netherlands stand at the exhibition, official partner of the Hannover Messe, where they had informal exchange with the Dutch Deputy Foreign Minister, Siebe Schuur. He recalled that the Netherlands are not only an important location for services, but also in terms of mobility and renewable energies. The Deputy Minister commented in the field of wind power, especially, there is huge potential the Netherlands to hold a strong international position. Schuur and His Excellency Al Mass also discussed a vast variety of mutual opportunities for collaboration between the two countries.

The delegation visited German company Rittal, the world’s leading supplier of cabinets, air conditioners and IT infrastructure. Here, the UAE representatives were particularly interested in future technologies and precise manufacturing techniques. With more than 10,000 employees and a turnover of more than EUR 2 billion last year, Rittal holds approximately 1,500 patents and maintains 40 offices worldwide. Consulting company Accenture, named Rittal as one of the six fastest growing German companies.

The UAE delegation also visited the German provider of automation, Festo. With 16,700 employees worldwide, Festo serves more than 300,000 customers in 200 branches. In the last year, Festo“s total revenue amounted to EUR 2.3 billion. The company is the global market leader in technical education and training of industry employees – a segment that is of particular interest for the UAE, whose plan to reinforce more training to transform its economy into a knowledge-based economy.

„Our tour of the Hannover Messe has given us the opportunity to meet with some of the world“s leading companies, gaining invaluable knowledge and insight that we will be taking back with us to the UAE,“ said H.E Hammad Al Mass.

„Abu Dhabi and the UAE is repositioning itself in the international market. This is especially with regard to the strategies „UAE Vision 2021′ and ‚Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030‘, which diversifies our economy away from oil.“
